Hightstown Fuel Service of Hightstown, New Jersey, began in September, 1991.
After five previous years of “learning the ropes,” transporting trailer loads of product, delivering residential and commercial fuel oil, servicing burners in the summer months, experiencing the ups and downs of the oil business, Kevin Cummings decided to start his own “no-frills” oil delivery service. Past experiences of being a chemical pipe-fitter and delivery route truck driver proved useful in this new endeavor.
His wife, Cookie, having secretarial and customer service skills, thought they together could make it work. Acquaintances in the business encouraged Kevin and Cookie and knew a family business could succeed with determination, patience, and quality performance. Through the preceding cold and warm winter seasons, the business has persevered and today remains one of the last personalized customer service oil companies in the area.
